Welcome to The Bike Project

The idea of the Bike Project is simple.  We take in donations of unwanted bicycles from the general public and organisations and refurbish them while providing essential work experience to unemployed adults and young people.  We sell the refurbished bikes to members of the local community for an affordable price, thus providing a sustainable and healthy transport option.  The income from sales of the bikes sustains the project.  We do all this with the support of volunteers.

We also service bikes and we provide both informal and accredited training in cycle mechanics at our workshops in Guildford and Walton-on-Thames.  We run confidence-building, employability and life skills programmes.

What we can do for you:

  • Sell you a fully guaranteed and refurbished bike
  • Service your bike using recycled parts as far as possible thus keeping the cost down
  • Provide work experience or skills training
  • Provide volunteering opportunities

What you can do for us:

  • Donate your unwanted bikes
  • Volunteer your time in a range of roles including workshop mechanic, van driver, office administrator and shop assistant

To donate a bike please drop them off at our shop or ring us on 01483 570521 if you need them to be collected.

To volunteer, apply for work experience or to join a training course ring our office (which is open weekdays excluding Wednesday from 09.30 to 4.30) on 01483 570521 or email us on info@guildfordbikeproject.org.uk.
